Lex Records has announced plans to release a semi-autobiographical audiobook/soundtrack by Alan Moore, the writer of such seminal graphic novels as Watchmen, V For Vendetta and From Hell. While he's already completed the 120-minute audiobook portion of the release, Andrew Broder of Fog and Adam Drucker (a.k.a. Doseone of Subtle and Themselves) are still working on the score, which features guest spots from Mike Patton and Jesu's Justin Broadrick.
According to a Billboard.biz interview with Lex founder Tom Brown, the Moore project is essentially a "photographic novel" presented in deluxe form with art prints, a vinyl pressing of the soundtrack, and the audiobook. The music may be released as a separate CD or digital download, but for now Brown is treating the whole thing like the limited version of Radiohead's In Rainbows.
"It's grown out of our production values and the music we work on," he explained. "We are being ambitious with it. By working with artists outside music, you can make releases that are really worthwhile."
