BLACKsummers'night, the first Maxwell album since 2001's Now, has been set for a July 7 release. The first of a planned trilogy, it'll be following by BlackSUMMERS'night and Blacksummers'NIGHT in 2010 and 2011 respectively. (No, we're not kidding about those slightly-tweaked titles.) Hod David, a longtime collaborator of Maxwell's, aided in the production and writing of the three efforts.
In related news, Maxwell will continue playing his first shows in six years this summer with dates running between a June 17 stop in Grand Rapids, MI, and an August 1 gig in Miami.
