Lady Gaga is about to usurp Britney Spears' crown. Gaga will soon earn the distinguish honor of having the most followers on social networking site Twitter. Like the most followers of anyone in the entire world. Spears is currently the user with the most followers but the monsters are coming out in droves to follow Gaga.
Billboard reports that according to social media statistics service Famecount.com, Gaga recorded 5,635,460 followers yesterday, while Spears had 5,646,028. With her current growth rates, her visibility and her popularity overall, Gaga will have surpassed Spears by today. What a finish line to cross.
Actor Ashton Kutcher had the most Twitter followers for quite some time, but Mr. Demi Moore was passed by Spears earlier this summer. Spears' reign atop Twitter is short and about to end, and something tells me she will not be able to regroup and catch Gaga. Is it insane that we actually keep track of this stuff when kids are starving all over the world?
