    All Music Guide Review

Wild Planet is the follow-up to Paradigm Shift, a previous collection of remixes and obscurities compiled by cEvin Key (of Skinny Puppy). On this one, Key gathers a fascinating cross-section of artists and creates a surprisingly accessible, frequently danceable (if consistently dark) program. Predictable inclusions come from Doubting Thomas (the brooding, down-tempo industrialism of "Steps"), Lustmord (the almost arrhythmic and fairly terrifying "Infinite Domain"), and, of course, Skinny Puppy (a remixed version of "Rodent"). But there are also some surprises: the one-man dub syndicate that is Twilight Circus weighs in with the very heavy "Ultra Binghi (Brain Melter Mix)," while the Legendary Pink Dots put in an appearance as well, contributing one of the very few vocal numbers on this program: a shimmery slice of down-tempo guitar pop called "Fate's Faithful Punchline" (in a super-ambient mix by Frank Verschuuren). Some of this stuff is downright pretty. Overall, the album itself is a highly satisfying blend of influences and grooves that may take some of Key's fans (and detractors) by surprise. Highly recommended. ~ Rick Anderson, All Music Guide
