Latin Rock Explosion hooks neophyte listeners with the Santana/Rob Thomas smash "Smooth," then offers up a selection of less omnipresent (in the rock mainstream, anyway) bands performing generally high-quality material in a similar style. While the compilation is brief (only eight songs), it isn't a bad choice for those curious about pursuing the sound further, since it does feature some of the top contemporary Latin rock outfits. ~ Steve Huey, All Music Guide
