    Taste of 3rd Stone is a solid overview of the U.K. label's roster. It features work from nine groups, ranging from the blissful dream pop of Bark Psychosis ("I Know") and State of Grace, to the electronic Dr. Who drone of Spacemen 3's "Ecstasy in Slow Motion." The Sonic Boom-guided Experimental Audio Research is here, too, contributing the swirl of "California Nocturne" from its 1994 release Mesmerised. Brooding electronica from Mali Rain and Popguns' pretty jangle pop fit right in, and Goober Patrol's drunk punk ruckus is a nice counterbalance to the album's dreamy haze. 3rd Stone offers Taste at a competitive price, making it an even better introduction for curious listeners. ~ Johnny Loftus, All Music Guide
