All Music Guide Review
Country singer David Ball was born in South Carolina. While still in school he learned to play the guitar, tried his hand at songwriting, started his own band, and began performing regularly. A few years later he moved to Texas and formed a new group, Uncle Walt's Band. After a couple of albums, Ball got the chance to go solo in 1994 with a self-titled offering that went gold. Three other full-length recordings followed during the '90s. It's from these that the tunes for Super Hits were selected. This best-of collection carries fan favorites like "Watching My Baby Not Coming Back," "Thinkin' Problem," "When the Thought of You Catches up With Me," and "Look What Followed Me Home." All are songs that Ball either wrote or co-wrote. David Ball's music is country, even honky tonk and touching ballads, but many of his tunes are full of rock and pop flavor, paced out with snare drums and electric guitar. The mixture has been a successful one and gives him a chance to reach country music lovers from different generations. ~ Charlotte Dillon, All Music Guide
