Klark Kent

Klark Kent, aka Klerk Kant, is actually Police drummer Stewart Copeland recording as a Prince-style one-man band. His drumming is, naturally, superb; his guitar and bass playing are above average; and if his vocals are merely passable, you have to remember that this is basically a lark. A far cry from the sometimes self-important pop of the Police, Music Madness trades in a sort of intellectual garage-rock. Copeland takes on the persona of an arrogant smart ass in his late teens, complete with over-the-top back-cover bio. The song titles tell the story: "Don't Care," "Away from Home," "My Old School," and "Excess." The best song, though, is the rhythm-heavy instrumental "Theme for Kinetic Ritual," which some will remember as the theme song from the early MTV show The Cutting Edge. ~ Bill Cassel, Rovi
