One of the original members of the popular Moonshine Music label, Dave Audé embodied the successful end of Los Angeles DJs who made a living spinning earnest effects-laden trance. Rush Hour, Audé's debut of personal favorites, may give people the impression that he's a less soca/funk DJ Dan. His wide grab for fans is similar, striving for one long level of energy, especially in the first half of the set with the big gestures of Oliver Lieb's "Metro," DJ Remy's "Home Again," Spearhead's "Jump and Dance," and the mad synth-brass of Hani's excellent "Baby Wants to Ride." Though the Tuff Twins' Fatboy Slim pastiche "Disco Denim" is disappointing and Andy Ling and Camisra make for an unexciting conclusion, Audé's high spirits here are hard to rip apart. ~ Dean Carlson, Rovi
