    Super-fast punk that's equally melodic, angry, and humorous, 409 are one of the many bands that gave a middle-finger salute to the lead singer of the Grateful Dead upon his 1995 death. Even though said vocalist actually died of a heart attack, I Shot Jerry Garcia is a fun romp of inhumanly accelerated punk that barely clocks in at a minute. A B-side cover of The Go-Go's "Vacation" cements 409's party-like antics -- even if it doesn't match to Cub's version of this song. ~ Mike DaRonco, All Music Guide
