DJ Magic Mike breaks out of his mold as primarily a bass music producer with Magic's Kingdom, a daring album featuring a wide array of guest rappers and just as many different stylistic approaches. Taking on a Dr. Dre-like role as a craftsman directing a roster of artists, Mike manages to produce his most interesting album in years, as he explores everything from Southern-flavored rap to fairly straight-forward R&B, in addition to a handful of instrumental tracks featuring his turntable skills. Yet just because it's an interesting album doesn't necessarily mean that it's a remarkable effort; granted, it's one of Mike's most realized and ambitious efforts, but it's just far too diverse, too indecisive, and too short on stellar talent to ever make a lasting impression. ~ Jason Birchmeier, All Music Guide
