Collectables revives two of Shelley Fabares' albums from 1962 on this CD, encompassing her three biggest hits and a slew of interesting album tracks. This package nicely augments Rhino's best-of since there is so little overlap, but it also suffices as a stand-alone anthology since Fabares' big hits, namely "Johnny Angel" and "Johnny Loves Me," are accounted for. Shelley! includes a couple of updates of pop standards and a bouncy duet with Paul Petersen ("Very Unlikely"), while The Things We Did Last Summer is overwhelmingly comprised of covers of contemporary hits. That may not sound particularly enticing, but it's a lot of fun to hear a female vocalist take the lead on songs like "Palisades Park" and Brian Hyland's "Sealed With a Kiss," and the selection of material overall can't be faulted. ~ Greg Adams, All Music Guide
