    All Music Guide Review

Kuenda's name is synonymous with Africa and the traditions of Angola. Preto & Branco translates as "black and white." In the album he stresses the need for black and white people to realize their differences, but that survival of the world depends upon cooperation and understanding of both. "Lua Da Banda" is a tasty cha-cha set a comfortable mid-tempo. "Suco de Manga" is a semba that moves the tempo up a few notches. "Rumbassekele" has a Caribbean cadence rhythm to it and swings with percussion aimed at the hips. "Toti" is another energized semba that gets the feet and hips moving. Then there's "Longe de Mim," a tango. All in all, an album that is not only enjoyable listening but danceable also. Bonga upholds the traditions of Angola well and shows that he has an ear attuned to dance rhythms from all over the planet. Recommended. ~ Mark Romano, All Music Guide
