All Music Guide Review
Entertainment Weekly's Greatest Hits 1983 continues the magazine's year-by-year retrospective of popular music with a collection of new wave, pop, and R&B. This volume includes Duran Duran's "Hungry Like the Wolf," the Pretenders' "Back on the Chain Gang," and Dexy's Midnight Runners' "Come on Eileen." Culture Club's "Do You Really Want to Hurt Me" and Patti Austin's "Baby Come to Me" are two other highlights from this album; though it's not comprehensive, it is a solid, affordable overview of early-'80s singles. ~ Heather Phares, All Music Guide
