The ten tracks in this collection come from a brief and sadly neglected period of Gregory Isaacs' career: the time during the 1980s when he helped groundbreaking producer King Jammy demonstrate that digital rhythms could have an application in the context of roots reggae. On these songs, the instrumental accompaniment provided by such cutting-edge studio units as Steely & Clevie, Mafia & Fluxy, and the Firehouse Crew is both up-to-the-minute and perfectly suited to Isaacs' low-key, old-fashioned delivery. The singer is at the top of his form on tracks like "Give Love a Try" and the gently dread "Curfew a South," and especially on the album's lead track, the quintessential loverman vehicle "Falling in Love." Not every track here is essential, but this is a very useful overview of some of Isaacs' most interesting work. ~ Rick Anderson, All Music Guide
