All Music Guide Review
Although the '70s get a bad reputation for the music that came out during the time, there were quite a few good singles if nothing else. Many of those good singles can be found here and, unlike many collections from this time period, this does not concentrate on one genre. Everything from Ian Hunter's sleaze anthem "Once Bitten, Twice Shy" to the Cornelius Brothers' smooth R&B ballad "Too Late to Turn Back Now" are featured here. Highlights include Blue Oyster Cult's hypnotic "(Don't Fear) The Reaper," Badfinger's gorgeous "Come and Get It," Looking Glass' pleasantly glossy "Brandy (You're a Fine Girl)," and the Byrds' shimmering take on Bob Dylan's "Mr. Tambourine Man." There are other good songs here, and some boring filler too, but overall this is a solid collection of classic rock music that should appeal to any fan of the era. ~ Bradley Torreano, All Music Guide
