The Shadow: Hard Sessions compilation features a variety of electronic dance producers: Magnetic, Dietrich Schoenemann, Hanna, Illform, and Droid. Each of the producers contribute two tracks to the album, and the musical styles fall somewhere between techno and drum'n'bass, with most tracks featuring characteristics associated with both, namely the dark motifs of techno and the archaic breakbeats of drum'n'bass, and all tracks being quite harsh and intense.
