All Music Guide Review

About 30 seconds in, a tiny stream of breakbeat hi-hats oozes in past the usual sirens and you realize that Lo Fidelity Allstars have found some soul -- of the Louisiana variety. Big ol' bogs filled with chunky acid house rhythms still funnel Lo Fi's sound, but this time there's a stronger whiff of Sly Stone funk than overcooked Fatboy Slim beats. The bookend "The All, the All" takes its time building to a chewed-out mountain of Stax squeals and clunks while "Just Enough" appropriates the small-beat ballad techniques of Primal Scream's Screamadelica. A nice, slight return then. Apart from "Voodoo House," which is wicked, filthy, and ugly as sin. Like a preacher wielding akimbo machetes as he trundles through a New Orleans swamp with a boombox tied to his back. ~ Dean Carlson, All Music Guide
