All Music Guide Review
Columbia River's Hot Hot Hot: Eighties Top of the Charts delivers a grab bag of 14 fairly well-known '80s singles that seem to be thrown together somewhat randomly. The collection does offer its fair share of big hits, including Hall and Oates' "Private Eyes," Rick Springfield's "Jessie's Girl," and the Eurythmics' "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)," as well as novelty-esque singles, like Ray Parker, Jr.'s "Ghostbusters," and Buster Poindexter's "Hot Hot Hot." The Alan Parsons Project's "Eye in the Sky," Mr. Mister's "Broken Wings," and Billy Ocean's "Get Outta My Dreams, Get Into My Car" are some of the other sizable hits here; slightly lesser-known entries into the Top 40 of the '80s include Jo Boxers' "Just Got Lucky," and Steel Breeze's "You Don't Want Me Anymore." While the collection's selections are pretty solid, it stumbles a bit when it comes to presentation -- very little holds the songs together, other than the fact that they were all released in the '80s. Still, Hot Hot Hot is enjoyable enough, and has enough hits on it, that this shouldn't be a problem for most listeners. ~ Heather Phares, All Music Guide
