    While Definitive Records' Year in Your Life series does a fine job with the collections that they have issued which span single years, their decade spanning collections issued as part of the same series seem a bit scattershot. The songs are almost always recognizable, but not consistently iconic, and there is a wide range of styles and moods represented here. That said, A Year in Your Life: 60s, Vol. 1 has some great songs, including Gene Chandler's "Duke of Earl," the Ad Libs' "Boy From New York City" and the Soul Survivors' "Expressway to Your Heart." ~ Stacia Proefrock, All Music Guide
