This interesting collector's LP (released in Japan and made available domestically for just a short time) has a variety of rare tracks from the legendary Quincy Jones big band's Mercury sessions. With such top players as flugelhornist Clark Terry (featured on "Moanin'"), tenorman Zoot Sims, altoist Phil Woods and guitarist Kenny Burrell being featured, and Jones' jazz writing in prime form, this is a particularly strong set. Strange that it has not been coherently reissued on CD yet. In addition to "Moanin'," other highlights include "Daylie Double," "Parisian Thoroughfare," "The Midnight Sun Will Never Set" and "The Preacher." ~ Scott Yanow, All Music Guide
