All Music Guide Review
This interesting album features altoist/vocalist Louis Jordan and three versions of his Tympani Five during 1944-45, when he was reaching the peak of his popularity. With such sidemen as either Eddie Roane, Idrees Sulieman or Aaron Izenhall on trumpet and (on a few numbers) pianist Wild Bill Davis, Jordan and his group are heard recording radio transcriptions for World Broadcasting. Other than "G.I. Jive," the music emphasizes lesser-known tunes and contains plenty of fine solos from Jordan, including the surprisingly advanced "Re-Bop." ~ Scott Yanow, All Music Guide
