While Definitive Records' Year in Your Life series does a fine job with the collections that they have issued, which span single years, their decade-spanning collections issued as part of the same series seem a bit scattershot. The songs are almost always recognizable, but not consistently iconic, and while the series plants itself pretty firmly in pop music, there is a wide range of styles and moods represented here. Nevertheless, A Year in Your Life, Vol. 2 features some great work from girl groups like the Chiffons and the Shangri-Las, as well as sweet pop sounds from the Turtles on "Elenore" and Petula Clark on "Downtown." ~ Stacia Proefrock, All Music Guide
