Friction and Big Beat Boutique resident Tayo concentrates on the disquieted end of the nearly forgotten breaks scene for the first installment in the Y4K franchise. Though it coughs out after an astonishing burst of liquid two-step that is Beber & Tamra's "Travellin' On" and the parping 808 State-style breakbeats of Sueno Latino, Tayo keeps his cool during the lulls and fortifies the complex beat construction in many of the right places. Along with PMT's seditious "Gyromancer" and a welcome appearance of the Stanton Warriors, Y4K: Further Still is the direct result of somebody having the courage to pit distantly emotional b-boy buildups and artificial acid house breakbeats against garage, drum'n'bass, and the questionable need for a scene's self-approval. ~ Dean Carlson, All Music Guide
