Lyrics from Casey Kasem: America's Top 10 Through Years - The 80's
All Music Guide Review
The 1980s edition of Casey Kasem's America's Top 10 series offers a nice cross-section of the decade's biggest radio hits. There's adult contemporary (Air Supply's "All Out of Love"; the cloying Mechanics hit "Living Years"), synth pop from Thompson Twins and Eurythmics ("Hold Me Now" and "Sweet Dreams [Are Made of This]," respectively), straightforward pop/rock from the Pretenders, and that paragon of '80s radio, Bryan Adams, plus a few notable novelties in the form of Eddy Grant ("We gonna rock down to..." ("Electric Avenue")) and the B-52's ("Tiiiiin roof...rusted!" ("Love Shack")). The collection doesn't dig very deep, but it will give the casual fan a great overview of the decade, without the filler of most retrospectives. ~ Johnny Loftus, All Music Guide
