    All Music Guide Review

While most trance DJs release mix tapes as often as possible, Scott Hardkiss, along with brother Gavin Hardkiss, waited five years between releases. Listening to United DJs of America, Vol. 17, it's apparent that Hardkiss hasn't lost his touch. Steve Lawler's "Rise In" as well as Electric Skychurch's "Liberty" are surprisingly funky, featuring deep, propulsive basslines. Armand Van Helden's "Full Moon" has a hip-hop feel, as does Jark Prongo's "Rocket Base" which samples Salt-N-Pepa. Trance mixes can often become tedious, but Hardkiss manages to keep things fresh, finding tracks that are distinctive but work well together. ~ Jon Azpiri, All Music Guide
