    All Music Guide Review

For the second year in a row, a Martin Lawrence film has turned out a better than average movie soundtrack. In 2000, there was the soundtrack to Lawrence's Big Momma's House and in 2001 there's What's the Worst That Could Happen, an excellent compilation of modern hip-hop and R&B. The first single is Erick Sermon's "Music," a funky tune that features a sweet sample of an unreleased Marvin Gaye vocal. In "Wooden Horse," rapper Craig Mack finds a more unusual source for a sample, borrowing heavily from Frank Sinatra's "High Hopes." Another highlight is Snoop Dogg's "What They Say." With a few additions from newcomers like Jo Doja and Benzino, What's the Worst That Could Happen? makes for a very pleasing mix. It seems the braintrust behind this mediocre film has pretty good taste in music. ~ Jon Azpiri, All Music Guide
