Stretch Arm Strong's second effort on Solid State showcases more of the hardcore punk positivism that this band has become known for in the music scene. Straightforward music combines with encouraging lyrics about hardcore scene togetherness and the frustrations of friendships. In comparison to past works, Stretch Arm Strong hasn't made much progress. The vocals are pretty plush, exhibiting a wider range of screaming, singing, and more spirit, overall. The music seems less new-school styled and contains more punk influence, with fast, straight-ahead beats and circle-pit mayhem. Less singalong parts, a little experimentation with some tribal sounds on one track, and a closing tune which may cause some fans to wonder if Stretch Arm Strong will be the next Get Up Kids, but it's highly unlikely. Rather, they seem like the type of band who will continue to garner adequate success -- much like this album. ~ Kurt Morris, All Music Guide
