    All Music Guide Review

Lesley Rankine, aka Ruby and formerly of Silverfish, took her time releasing Short-Staffed at the Gene Pool, the follow-up to her acclaimed solo debut, Salt Peter. But she made up for lost time with this remix album, which was released only two months after Short-Staffed at the Gene Pool. It features contributions by names that will probably be familiar only to adepts of remix culture: Kid 606 applies advanced tweakage and glitchery to "Lilypad"; Aksun turns "Waterside" into a strange excursion into deep house; Schnieder TM brings the dirty funk for his mix of "Grace." Only one or two mixes fail to add new interest to the original song (unfortunately, one of the least interesting is the album' s opening track). Overall, this is an excellent companion to a very fine album. ~ Rick Anderson, All Music Guide
