    When world-renowned Chicago house DJ Derrick Carter got together with lesser-known but equally able U.K. DJ Luke Solomon to start a record label, the results were far from certain. Now, with almost 50 releases by house music's best producers, both veteran and upcoming, Classic Music Company has become a label that DJs and house music fans buy on sight, certain of the funky yet innovative music contained within. This double mix CD, one by Solomon, the other by Carter, compiles many of Classic's best tracks by artists such as Herbert, Rob Mello, and DJ Sneak. The Solomon mix is the stronger of the two. Deep and inventive, it finely walks the line between the pre-club warm-up and the post-party comedown. The Carter mix is a peak-hours affair with the "skippity-bump" rhythm he is globally known for.
