Gharnati is a branch of the andalus classical style (it's named after the city of Granada). As you can clearly hear from this recording, it was borrowed from Algeria, and the Rabat version still shows signs of its origins in singing style and instrumentation. Splendid music, good documentation. ~ John Storm Roberts, Rovi
