Straight outta the brain-melting heat of Austin, TX, bands like Johnboy, Crust, Drain, Ed Hall, and the Cherubs are not exactly the sort of stuff you'll wanna play for your dear old granny, but their distinctive, balls-to-the-wall brands of noise rock are a welcome antidote to the safe blandness of "modern rock" radio.
