Like many of the later GNP records, The World's Greatest Latin Band is an exercise in competence but not excitement. There are songs sung by Graciela (not enough), songs sung by Machito and trio, a trumpet solo by Jimmy Zito, and a sax solo by Aaron Sachs. "Bernie's Tune" and Miles Davis' "Pent-Up House" are tacked on the ends of each side; neither jazz nor Latin fans should expect much spontaneity. There are only eleven tracks, and none of them are long, so maybe the session was not long enough to have yielded more inspiring material. ~ Tony Wilds, All Music Guide
