The debut solo album by the Whitesnake guitarist came about via intense interest in Japan, where the record was first issued when it came out in 1980. It's unexceptional late-'70s hard rock, a little less hard rock-oriented, actually, than you might expect of someone from Whitesnake. It would be easy to imagine this gaining some airplay between the Triumph and Toto songs on your local mid-market FM station of the era, for instance, though it didn't. Among the sidemen are Jon Lord, Ian Paice, Jack Bruce, and Cozy Powell. It was reissued on CD by Purple in 2000 with historical liner notes and three bonus tracks: the B-side "You & Me" and live versions of "Who's Fooling Who" and "Shakey Ground" (neither of which appeared in studio counterparts on the actual album). ~ Richie Unterberger, All Music Guide
