Best of Country 1969-1975 collects 18 tracks from maverick psychedelic/country folk-rock mainstay Country Joe McDonald's years with the Vanguard label. There's no "Section 43," "Fish" Cheer I-Feel-Like-I'm-Fixin-To-Die-Rag," "Masked Marauder," or "Not So Sweet Martha Lorraine," so casual fans would be better off picking up one of the more commercial "best-ofs" or better yet, original albums like Electric Music for the Mind and Body, I-Feel-Like-I'm-Fixin'-to-Die or Together, but there's enough here for diehards to warrant a spin or two. ~ James Christopher Monger, All Music Guide
