Lyrics from The Mighty Marvelows
All Music Guide Review
The Marvelows recorded in the wrong decade, they had a couple of hits in the late sixties, but their hearts were in the 50's. Their biggest hit "I Do," was a harmony favorite that actually did better for the J. Geils Band. They ventured deeper into the 50's with throwbacks "My Heart," "Shim Sham," "Hey, Hey Baby," and "A Friend," a humorous bass vocalist accents the selections, pumped by energetic, exaggerated backing vocals. The Marvelows achieve a more up-to-date sound on "In The Morning," a pretty swooping ballad, and the upbeat "Talking About You Baby." Look elsewhere if you prefer the typical 60's group sound, but if you like doo-wop, you'll love The Mighty Marvelows. ~ Andrew Hamilton, All Music Guide
