Submit Your ReviewIn the early '90s, Morgoth enjoyed a small cult following playing thrash/death metal with a morbid, pessimistic outlook. The underground band never even came close to reaching rock's mainstream, and obviously had no desire to. On this bombastic CD, Morgoth takes an approach is that is slightly less extreme than bands like Deicide, Cannibal Corpse, Obituary and Carcass, but not nearly as accessible as Testament or Megadeth. In contrast to outfits that employ no melody whatsoever, a Morgoth number will typically start off with some type of melody before moving into the sort of tortured, grunting, choked vocals that have been grindcore's trademark. Because Morgoth's gloom-and-doom lyrics are difficult or impossible to understand, Century Media was wise to include a lyric sheet. Despite its obvious limitations, The Eternal Fall/Resurrection Absurd is fairly entertaining. ~ Alex Henderson, All Music Guide
