The group's swan song for SST Records, Guns is a half-hearted attempt to earn some money to pay for the legal bills incurred by the U2 single. By the time of its release, relations between Negativland and SST were already bad, and lackluster performance of Guns probably didn't help much. Divided into "Then" and "Now" sections, the EP explores the differences of gun culture over the years, but it's far less explosive than you'd think, especially hot on the heels of such a controversial release as U2. ~ Sean Carruthers, All Music Guide
