Weights & Measures are the best example of a power trio playing extreme math rock. The songs move from very angular to emotional rocking parts. The production of the record is great, all tones are vivid and thick. The angular quiet parts are crisp and tight, while the rocking parts are very thick and wide. This band exercises the rest, using silence as rhythm with great effect. The theme seems out to make a point about math in music. In this environment, this is a great place to showcase a good drummer. Precision is the key and the drummer must act as a metronome. With all of the math of syncopation, Weights & Measures still retain a sense of emotion within the techniques. The bass tone creates beautiful melodies above the distorted guitar. Weights & Measures know when to back off; they make it lighter and brighter at the appropriate times, giving the listener a little melody when they need it. It seems as if this record could be listened to in halves. When one thinks the math is going to be boring, enough, or too much, the Canadian trio, Weights & Measures, delivers a new level to make one smile, leaving you with two fixes taken care of at once. ~ David Serra, All Music Guide
