Sonic Groove: Defined is a recording that celebrates the tenth anniversary of Sonic Groove, a Brooklyn-based record shop started by Frankie Bones, where he was later joined by his brother, Adam X, and Heather Heart. Sonic Groove was the techno-DJ one-stop for city raver kids and vinyl aficionados, but not only was Sonic Groove one of the finest record stores in the world, it became a world-renowned record label famous for solid 12" record production. Bones, X, and Heart have all gotten behind desks, making their name as DJs as well as producers. Over the years they've mixed their own stuff live as well as the music of the artists they've produced for their Sonic Groove label. Sonic Groove: Defined is a mix of Bones, X, and Hearts favorite 12" recordings over the ten years that Sonic Groove has been together; this compilation includes some of their own tracks as well as some of their favorite productions. Sonic Groove: Defined is an anthology that sounds like a trip down memory lane for the '90s rave culture. For those who want to hearken back to the early rave days of the '90s, this is definitely the recording to have. ~ Matt Borghi, All Music Guide
