All Music Guide Review

An all-female quintet that came out of Hollywood's hard rock scene of the 1980s, Precious Metal went for a glossy, commercial pop-metal sound comparable to Vixen. Like Vixen, Precious was called a "female Bon Jovi," but unlike Vixen, they never had a million-selling album. Precious did acquire a small following, though a commercial breakthrough eluded the L.A. residents. Typical of Precious' output, That Kind of Girl is exactly the type of CD that most rock critics are quick to attack, but the fact is that hard-rocking but melodic songs like "Seven Minutes to Midnight," "Anybody's Lover" and the amusing title track are fun and entertaining. And who said that all rock & roll always has to be as profound as U2 or Elvis Costello? ~ Alex Henderson, All Music Guide
