Nelson Rangell's debut for the GRP label finds him playing David Sanborn-influenced alto, some fluent soprano and his most individual horn, flute. Rangell is joined on the commercial pop/jazz material (mostly group originals) by Kip Kuepper or Jay Rowe on keyboards, guitarist Chuck Loeb and a rhythm section; Carmen Cuesta takes a vocal on "Find Your Way." Well-played but derivative music filled with light, funky rhythms and basic sax solos. ~ Scott Yanow, All Music Guide
