The most visceral and intense action score in the Alan Silvestri catalog to date, Ricochet is also a unique entry in the composer's oeuvre for its reliance on rhythm over melody, a complete flip-flop of his traditional modus operandi. Silvestri employs martial percussion and violent, slashing timpani to vivid effect, and while the score as a whole lacks the thematic coherence that typifies his more melodic efforts, Ricochet also boasts a sense of excitement missing from his more rote soundtracks. ~ Jason Ankeny, All Music Guide
