This volume of Martha Stewart Living is, not surprisingly, about putting children to bed, so the music is devoted to quiet NPR lullabies, balancing songs by new acoustic merchants like Nickel Creek, Alison Krauss, Tuck & Patti, and David Wilcox with adult alt-rock favorites like Barenaked Ladies, Lucinda Williams, and Everything but the Girl, plus thirtysomething staples like Bobby McFerrin, Keb' Mo', and Linda Ronstadt. All this holds together well, and it's largely soothing enough to put a baby to sleep (although even when Billy Bragg's crooning with Natalie Merchant, he isn't exactly the kind of singer that kids will warm to), and Stewart rounds out the collection with craft ideas, recipes, and household hints. Like any of the discs in this series, it's hardly for collectors or snobs, but if the idea of this record sounds interesting to you, you'll likely find it satisfying. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide
