    The fourth volume in the '80s retrospective Rock the First emphasizes alternative rock, stretching all the way from Blondie's new wave-goes-hip-hop classic "Rapture" to the Clash's pop-punk smash "Rock the Casbah" to the Red Hot Chili Peppers' incendiary reading of Stevie Wonder's "Higher Ground." A solid entry, although inclusions like Scandal's "The Warrior" and Vixen's "Edge of a Broken Heart" definitely wreak havoc with the overall mood. ~ Chuck Donkers, All Music Guide
