All Music Guide Review
Though there seems to be an ever-expanding number of British Invasion compilations, The British Are Coming, Vol. 1 manages to be one of the most fun and eclectic collections of the style. While the album features two of the Kinks' biggest hits, "You Really Got Me" and "A Well Respected Man," as well as Donovan's "Catch the Wind" and "Colours," most of the album is devoted to lesser-known singles and artists, such as the Sorrows' "Take a Heart," Marmalade's "Reflections of My Life," and the Rockin' Berries' "He's in Town." The Tremeloes' "Silence Is Golden," the Foundations' "Baby Now That I've Found You," and David Bowie's early single "I Dig Everything" are some of the album's other highlights. With its balance of hits and more obscure songs, The British Are Coming, Vol. 1 is a good collection for anyone interested in digging deeper into the British Invasion sound. ~ Heather Phares, All Music Guide
