    All Music Guide Review

"Movie music from the 80's," this budget compilation's cover proclaims in the boxy font reserved for the age of 5.25" floppies and dot matrix printers. And it backs up its title, skimming the iconic surface of Brat Pack music. There's Simple Minds' "Don't You Forget About Me" (The Breakfast Club) and John Parr's triumphant pegged-jeans classic "St. Elmo's Fire (Man in Motion)." The Sheena Easton lite rock fave "So Far So Good" is taken from About Last Night, and the Bangles' "Hazy Shade of Winter" still buzzes with Less Than Zero hedonism. Other, less identifiably cinematic cuts here include Spandau Ballet's "True" and "Would I Lie to You" by Eurythmics. All in all not a bad comp, but don't get a headache staring at that cover art. ~ Johnny Loftus, All Music Guide
