Bands like Rah Bras prove one doesn't need a guitar to rock. Strange yet stylish, the Richmond, VA, trio -- keyboardist Isabellarah Rubella, bassist Boo Rah, and drummer Jean Rah -- cranks out 12 tracks in 30 minutes on Ruy Blas!. Many of these intriguing post-rock numbers carry a medieval, even sinister vibe, which range from the gentle "Civic" to the explosive "Suoop Toe Pump Girls" and "Fungry." If these odd titles sound unapproachable to listeners, then they probably won't understand Rah Bras' music. But maybe that's the point. ~ Kenyon Hopkin, All Music Guide
