Volume Five of Alice @ 97.3: This is Alice Music series is a mix of studio, acoustic, and live material from artists in line with the Bay Area FM outlet's adult alternative format. While popular singles from Smash Mouth, Creed, Coldplay, and other heavyweights will certainly be appreciated by fans, it's the alternate versions of radio favorites that really stand out here. Nelly Furtado's "I'm Like a Bird" becomes a yearning piano ballad, while Jason Wade shows off his impressive vocal range on an understated acoustic version of the Lifehouse hit "Hanging by a Moment." Evan & Jaron, too, prove to be strong vocalists on a stripped down, mandolin-tinged version of their 2000 hit "Crazy for This Girl." This album might be padded a little by overplayed studio tracks -- Filter's "Take a Picture" wore out its welcome long ago.
