    All Music Guide Review

Released in 1998, this Canadian compilation (and the second in a by now well-established series) takes tracks from 19 different female artists, many of whom happen to be Canadian. This was during the height of the Lilith Fair craze, where chick rock was played on the radio frequently, and artists like Sheryl Crow, Lilith-founder Sarah McLachlan, Jewel, Paula Cole, and Natalie Merchant (all of whom are found here) were constantly on the charts. For the genre it represents, it's actually a pretty decent collection, a combination of the aforementioned big-name musicians with those who had less staying power (at least outside Canada) like Jann Arden, Natalie Imbruglia, Billie Myers, Wild Strawberries, and Sarah Slean. ~ Marisa Brown, All Music Guide
